Over the past few decades computers have completely altered the fabric of our society. This may sound dramatic, but think about it: Modern technology has allowed us to integrate tech into everything about our day, from the time our feet hit the floor in the morning until we close our eyes at night (and some tech even works for us while we sleep!).
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has its fingers in just about every aspect of modern tech. Its APIs have had a significant impact, making Amazon a forerunner in all industries from business to entertainment to education. And through “the Internet of Things” (IoT), we are connected – always.
IoT In Your Daily Life
The tech industry is constantly evolving, giving way to innovations that touch our daily lives – even ones that we don’t consciously think of. When early adopters of Amazon’s Alexa devices realized how awesome it was, consumers worldwide starting jumping on the trend. This widespread adoption proved that consumers were not only willing to shell out the money for great tech innovation, but also that our society is accepting (if not demanding) innovation to improve our lives – even if it seems too futuristic for some. For example, Amazon Echo can control your home thermostat by simple voice command: “Alexa, please set the thermostat to 72 degrees.” Home automation has become increasingly common, allowing people to control their lights, door locks, garage door, appliances and more with a single device (e.g. your smartphone) from miles away. You can bet your last dollar that Amazon will be capitalizing on this for years to come, at the same time affording us more and more amazing tech.
Machine Learning, AI & You
With today’s ever-evolving computer technology, computers have broadly automated tasks that programmers can design using clear rules and algorithms. Modern machine learning techniques now allow us to do the same for tasks where describing the precise rules is much harder. Amazon has practical applications of this that we see every day, such as algorithms for product deals and recommendations, translations, and much more. Needless to say, machine learning has a direct impact on the way we live our lives, from the tech we use to the way we shop.
Looking forward, as machine learning, AI and technology in general evolve, we’ll be seeing some wonderful innovation. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
